I'm the girl behind Shutterboo. I'm Brooke.

I’m a Louisville native and can never love another city more than this one. Since my husband, Mike, and I have returned home, I’ve vowed never to leave again. The things I love most in the world are here: our families, our dogs Chevy & Chase, some pretty wonderful friends and, of course, Derby Pie. Mmm... Derby Pie.

When I began my journey with photography, I soaked up as much knowledge as I could, sharing my successes and failures through my blog, Shutterboo. I used my life — the people, the places, the things I knew — as my inspiration. My goal was to capture life as I know it.

My goals continued to grow when I decided to capture other people's lives as they know it. As I watch relationships unfold in front of me — the unexpected smiles and glances between people, the unspoken language of love — I knew that I had to keep doing it. The families, couples and friends I’ve been invited to share time with, have given me something even more rewarding in return.

I do enjoy working on location, the places that are a reflection of you, and shooting with natural light. I consider myself a casual observer — not only photographing portraits but also capturing the un-staged interactions... your life as you know it.
